Pre-Higher Ed Summer Institute

Online Event

Our program aims to provide you with the necessary background knowledge and guide you toward a successful journey in College or University. The Pre-Higher-Ed Summer Institute is a summer program designed to enrich and prepare students who have recently graduated from high school and are about to enter college or university. During this course, students are equipped with essential knowledge and skills to navigate their upcoming educational journey. The program focuses on providing insights into university life, fostering critical thinking abilities, and instilling self-confidence, self-awareness, and motivation to pursue their aspirations authentically. The topics covered in the program include various crucial aspects of university life, such as understanding what to expect in a higher education institution, interpreting admission offers, familiarizing themselves with program requirements, maintaining mental well-being, managing living arrangements, handling financial matters, including awards, finances, credit cards, and loans, comprehending courses and grading systems, upholding academic integrity, exploring academic accommodations, mastering time management, acknowledging civic responsibilities, and balancing work while pursuing education. Upon completing the course, students will continue to benefit from ongoing support, including monthly e-meetings with mentors, granting them a platform to seek guidance and advice. Additionally, they will have access to the “Ask the Prof” feature, enabling them to pose questions to professors and further enrich their understanding of academic subjects.

Achievers Summer Learning Camp | 5 weeks | Free | Brampton

Blessed Michael J. McGivney 450 Fernforest Drive, Brampton, Ontario, Canada

Achievers learning camp provides a full-day program for six weeks during the summer break for children 5 to 12 years of age in Toronto, Brampton and Mississauga. This affordable program occurs in an integrated setting where children with different abilities come together to learn & grow. Campers will learn new skills, develop greater self-confidence and create lasting memories. At OLDF, we believe that a camp is a place where the magic happens. OLDF Camp is where each child’s unique talents, personality, and perspective are welcomed and celebrated. It’s a place where all campers and counsellors can feel comfortable to be themselves and have the opportunity to discover how their individuality can impact the world. The camp is a place to laugh, play and develop life-long friendships. At the OLDF, we believe in helping all children and youth reach their full potential. OLDF campers have the opportunity to develop life skills and try new things as they deepen their connection with the world around them. The camp will challenge the youth to take risks, make mistakes, and step out of their comfort zones to accomplish the seemingly “impossible.” Our camp now follows the HIGH FIVE® Canada’s quality standard for children’s programs, and our staff are High Five certified. Click here for more information.
