Pre-Higher Ed Summer Institute

The Pre-Higher-Ed Summer Institute is a summer program designed to enrich and prepare students who have recently graduated from high school and are about to enter college or university. During this course, students are equipped with essential knowledge and skills to navigate their upcoming educational journey. The program focuses on providing insights into university life, fostering critical thinking abilities, and instilling self-confidence, self-awareness, and motivation to pursue their aspirations authentically. The topics covered in the program include various crucial aspects of university life, such as understanding what to expect in a higher education institution, interpreting admission offers, familiarizing themselves with program requirements, maintaining mental well-being, managing living arrangements, handling financial matters, including awards, finances, credit cards, and loans, comprehending courses and grading systems, upholding academic integrity, exploring academic accommodations, mastering time management, acknowledging civic responsibilities, and balancing work while pursuing education. Upon completing the course, students will continue to benefit from ongoing support, including monthly e-meetings with mentors, granting them a platform to seek guidance and advice. Additionally, they will have access to the “Ask the Prof” feature, enabling them to pose questions to professors and further enrich their understanding of academic subjects.

OLDF Youth Leadership Engagement Program (YLEP) is an interactive fun program for youth between 12 and 17. The program will prepare students for youth engagement and community involvement opportunities, gain leadership and teamwork skills and develop friendships through collaborative and peer-to-peer learning.
