High Five Certification Program (ages 12+)

HIGH FIVE® is a Provincial Quality Assurance Program designed to assist children and parents along the path of healthy child development. Through staff training and proven tools for supervisors to assess best practices, overall program quality, and the child’s first approach.

Our organization believes and values children and its commitment to making sure that all of our programs are designed and delivered to respect and nurture children and help them be the best they can be. Our summer camp staff instructs ages of 12+ will be trained in HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development.

We currently offer two popular courses by High Five:

HIGH FIVE – Principles of Healthy Child Development

This one-day training will help front-line leaders (anyone working with children aged 6 to 12 – i.e. camp counsellors, coaches, swim instructors) improve the quality of programs. It provides in-depth training in the HIGH FIVE Principles of healthy child development, so front-line leaders understand what they need to do to ensure each child’s social, emotional and cognitive needs are met. Leaders learn activities and gain knowledge, tips and resources to enhance their programs and their relationships with children and other staff members. Topics also include bullying, conflict resolution, physical literacy, children’s mental health and moderate to vigorous physical activity.

HIGH FIVE – QUEST 2

This one-day training helps supervisors improve risk management in children’s programs by learning how to measure quality with the HIGH FIVE scientifically-validated QUEST 2 Tool. Supervisors will use the QUEST 2 Tool and remember how to enter their data into the HIGH FIVE Database to track their organization’s progress and identify areas of need. They will also learn how to debrief the results of the assessments with staff in a positive way.

Pre-Requisite: Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD)
